1. Currently, I am planning to write about love addiction and plastic surgery addiction. I feel the causes are related in some way and they also seem very interesting.
I would like to compare shopping and cocaine addiction and specifically the differance behind habitual and chemically based addictions. The reason I have chosen this topic is because I am extremely intrigued by the chemical reactions that occur in the brain.
Marie Biaggi 1. I plan on comparing two types of addictions: one being a drug/chemically based addiction and the other being a habitual/behavioral addiction (like video games or internet). I want to be able to connect that addictions don't have to be directly harmful to your body to be considered an addiction. They can affect relationships with others and cause emotional problems as well. I want to discuss this because I feel that many people stereotypically define addiction only as any drug addiction and I don't think that is necessarily true.
Nikki Lieu 1. I plan on comparing a food and sexual addiction simply because they both are interesting topics and I would like to learn more about them.
1. I am going to define cigarette and tanning addictions. It is easy to find a lot of information on both addictions which will help me to find similarities between the two. Also I know people who smoke so I think I will be able to connect more with the topics.
Mindy Pham 1. The topic that I am planning to do for essay #2 is to compare and contrast gambling addiction to cigarette addiction. I chose these two addictions because I would like to see how gambling addiction compares to an addiction that is chemically based. I also want to learn if gambling has a physical affect to the body like cigarettes do.
Victoria Garcia 10 AM 1. For my essay, I am planning on writing about Shopping addiction and alcohol addiction or maybe food addiction. All three seem like interesting addictions and I have already found similarities.
I plan to write about tanning and running addictions. I chose these topics because I know many people that like to do both and I also find it interesting.
Emma Manley 1. I am interested in writing about tanning addiction because I have a friend that consistently uses the tanning bed. I plan to compare this addiction to the drug cocaine. Tanning and cocaine both have chemical reactions with the body and brain.
Sammy Xian 10 AM 1. I plan on comparing the addiction to video games and to exercise. I do both of these on a daily basis which makes it interesting to read. I might even have too big of an obsession with gaming right now. Also, most people don't see these as being that big of a deal compared to drugs and alcohol. It makes it more surprising to see what others say about it.
For my essay I plan on comparing crack addiction and a seemingly less serious addiction like gambling or Facebook addiction. I'm particularly interested in learning more about crack addiction for it has affected some of my close family. Also, I feel like the highs and the lows felt when gambling could relate to crack addiction.
I think I am going to write about cigarette addiction and caffeine/coffee addiction. I know plenty of people that are addicted to smoking cigarettes, and I'm sure that caffeine/coffee addiction is something many of my peers, maybe myself included, will face sooner or later.
I plan to compare/contrast food and love addictions. They are interesting topics to me and I want to find out more about them. Also, I never knew that these addictions could exist.
I plan to compare internet addiction with gaming addiction. Both are interesting subjects in addition to being new and not classified in the DSM-IV nor the upcoming DSM-V.
I plan to compare cigarette addiction to food addiction. Cigarette addiction seems like a topic I should educate myself on and I think it would be interesting to compare it to something that seems less harmful, like food addiction.
I plan to compare work addiction and video game addiction because these are on opposite ends of each other. However, it seems to be more interesting because both addictions result in the same effects. I like this topic because it links two completely different things together.
I plan to compare plastic surgery addiction and exercise addiction because I think these two addictions are very closely related to each other through the idea of perfect looks. Some people exercise a lot because they want to look thin and beautiful. I know a friend who seems a bit addicted to exercising for that reason. People get plastic surgery because they want to look more beautiful or attain those beautiful features in their body. I've talked to a friend about plastic surgery in Korea, and she says that so many people in Korea have gotten something done and she has many friends who want or already have gotten plastic surgery.
I think it would be interesting to compare and contrast attention/drama addiction with video game addiction. Both are interesting topics and video game addiction is something that I've experienced first hand.
I plan to compare and contrast the two addictions of cigarette addiction and video game addiction. Cigarette addiction is something i've experienced first hand and I've also experienced video game addiction also.
I plan on writing about the addiction of alcohol and sex. I believe they have a strong correlation with each other and would be interesting to write about
Completely forgot to do this! I'll do it late anyways. I plan on comparing addiction to opiates to video game addiction. I would like to explore the different ways in which they affect the brain. How the opiates directly use chemicals to enhance the brain's pleasure centers, as opposed to how playing video games releases pleasure inducing hormones and how this can become addictive in both places. Is it possible to become dependent on video games just like it is possible to become physically dependent on opiates?
